Clay Brick Association

There are many brick manufacturers and suppliers all around the world, one of our biggest and most well-known representatives of the clay brick and paving industry is the Clay Brick Association (CBA) which can be found in Edenvale, Gauteng.

The Clay Brick Association was incorporated on the 26th February 1963 and represents members right through Southern Africa, including Limpopo, KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West Province, Free State, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Southern Cape and also as far as Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Zambia and Botswana.

The CBA have many members, some of which include the following:

  • Corobrik
  • Algoa Brick
  • Viva Bricks
  • Paarl Bricks
  • Nova Bricks
  • Apollo Brick
  • Beukes Bricks
  • East London Bricks
  • Great North Bricks
  • MacDonald Bricks

African Pegmatite has been a member of the Clay Brick Association since 2013, supplying colourants for bricks, tiles and paving, these products range from Chrome Flour, Manganese Umber, K37, Red Iron Oxide, Yellow Ochre, Feldspar, Red Kaolin, and Glass Powder.

A CBA member, Corobrck gave back to the community last year April when severe thunderstorms claimed lives and destroyed many homes and buildings. One of the structures which was destroyed was the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Empangeni, KwaZulu Natal.

A wall in the church collapsed in the storm, claiming the lives of 14 of its members and injuring a further 16 members. The church’s pastor, Ndabezinhle Sibiya, wrote a message to the local radio station, East Coast Radio, asking for donations to source bricks to rebuild the church. Sibiya’s message reached Corobrik Sales’ Director, Christopher du Trevou, who not only donated the requested 15 000 bricks, but further an amount of 85 000 bricks to rebuild and reconstruct the entire building.

Coming together as a community, Caminamix Services offered free transportation of the bricks to the site. Du Trevou further mentioned “We hope that this donation from Corobrik contributes towards rebuilding the community of the Pentecostal Holiness Church”

The Clay Brick Association aspires to continuously provide modern building designs and brick architecture in all building environments which include commercial, residential and landscape. The CBA also caters for refractory industries such as Teide and Insulation Refractory Consultants who specialise in refractory products, kilns and ceramics.

Clay brick has over a 100-year lifespan and is low maintenance which are added benefits to any type of infrastructure. Clay brick stays cool in summer and warm in winter due to its high thermal mass.
