Glass Powder

General Application

Glass powder is used in the production of porcelain enamel. The powder melts and hardens to a smooth, durable, vitreous coating. The resulting porcelain product exhibits excellent material properties.

  • Firing temperature of 1240°C compared to 1340°C of traditional porcelain
  • Lower production costs compared to traditional porcelain
  • Increasing amount of glass up to 30% and firing temperature up to 1100°C decreases shrinkage and porosity, and increases bulk density and compressive strength of fired clay bricks
  • Recycled soda-lime glass powder replaces feldspar as a fluxing agent in porcelain formulation

General Information

Vitreous enamel, or porcelain enamel, is a material made by fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing between 750°C and 850°C.
